Pet Travel Certificate

If your pet needs a travel certificate, here are the steps you should follow:

1. Research Travel Requirements: Start by researching the pet travel requirements for your destination. These requirements vary depending on whether you’re traveling domestically or internationally, and different countries or airlines may have specific regulations. Check if there are any health or vaccination mandates, quarantine rules, or timelines for obtaining the certificate.
2. Call Us to Schedule An Appointment: Schedule an appointment with us so that we can be sure your pet is healthy for travel.
3. Ensure Vaccinations Are Up-to-Date: Ensure your pet’s vaccinations, especially for rabies, are current. Some destinations require vaccinations to be administered well in advance of travel, so timing is critical. You may also need proof of additional treatments for parasites or specific tests.
4. Microchipping (If Required): Some countries or airlines require pets to have a microchip as part of the travel documentation. Check if this is necessary and ensure the chip is readable by international scanners.  We recommend all pets by microchipped, which is easily done at Ivy Pets
5. Obtain the Travel Certificate: We will issue the travel certificate (often called a health certificate), which must be signed and may need to be officially endorsed by relevant authorities (like the USDA for international travel from the U.S.).
6. Meet Additional Requirements: Some countries require additional paperwork, tests, or approval from government agencies. You may also need to visit an embassy or a consulate to have documents verified or legalized.
7. Check Airline Regulations: If you are flying, contact the airline to confirm their specific requirements for pet travel, including any additional documentation they may require beyond the travel certificate.
8. Timing: Keep in mind that many health certificates are only valid for a limited period (often 10 days for domestic flights and up to 30 days for international travel). Make sure the certificate is issued within the appropriate time frame for your trip.

Bring All Documents When Traveling: When you travel, bring the original travel certificate along with any supporting documentation (e.g., vaccination records) in case you are asked to present them at any point during your trip.
